ABOUT

The small town artist Angela Lafreniere

Hello there! It's a pleasure to introduce myself to you. I'm Angela Lafreniere, a self-taught Pyrography and Pastel artist who has fallen head over heels in love with the captivating world of wood-burning and the colorful world of Pastels.  The joy I find in creating art pieces that capture the essence of my subjects is beyond measure. With a deep appreciation for nature's allure and unwavering attention to detail, I pour my heart and soul into each hand-burned creation and each pastel painting. From lifelike portraits to mesmerizing wildlife and serene landscapes, every piece carries its spirit and soul.

My journey as an artist began years ago in the early 2000s, alongside my late husband, Hal, who was a talented tattoo artist and my mentor.  I loved tattooing but only tattooed for about 8 years when roadblocks in life popped up.  I have just recently, in the last three years hopped back on the art ride and I am so glad I did.

When I started Pyrography, I discovered fascinating parallels between the intricate art of tattooing and the unique craft of wood-burning. This realization sparked a renewed passion within me, pushing me to explore new horizons.

I'm eager to experiment with materials like leather and bone, expanding my artistic boundaries beyond wood.  I'm practically buzzing with excitement as I dive into the world of Pastels, where I can now offer my work with vibrant colors. But it's not just about my growth and exploration, I find immense solace in sharing my experiences, embracing mistakes, and guiding others on their artistic journeys.

My commissioned pieces have found their way into the homes of clients throughout the United States and England, and the thought of expanding my reach fills me with pure joy. As Charred Treasures, my ultimate goal is to create cherished artwork that brings your ideas to life, artwork that will stand the test of time. I invite you to make this journey with me!
